Plate & MeshTray

Plate & MeshTray

 General Overview

This is a modular external fixation system used in orthopedic procedures to stabilize bone fractures. It’s commonly used in limb fixation (arms, legs, or hands) when internal fixation (like plates or nails) isn’t suitable.

 Key Components

  1. Fixation Clamps (Yellow & Black Parts)

    • These connect the rods and pins to hold fractured bones in correct alignment.

    • The different shapes (square, cross, Y, etc.) allow flexibility for various bone structures.

  2. Carbon Fiber or Metal Rods (Black Bars)

    • Two long rods on the left side are typically carbon fiber connecting rods, lightweight yet strong.

    • Used to connect the clamps across the fracture site.

  3. Bone Screws / Pins (Metallic Rods at the Bottom)

    • Inserted into the bone to anchor the fixator frame.

    • Available in different lengths and diameters.

  4. Drill Guides / Screwdrivers (Left Side, with silver handles)

    • Used for inserting and tightening screws or pins into the bone.

  5. Scissors & Small Tools

    • Used for cutting or preparing surgical materials such as gauze or sutures.

  6. Measuring & Spacer Tools (Top Right with number markings)

    • Help measure distances and align clamps correctly during surgery.

  7. Sterile Tray / Organizer (Black Base)

    • Keeps instruments organized and sterile during surgical procedures.

    • The right section with a patterned metal plate is likely a lid or sterilization cover.

 Common Surgical Uses

  • Fractures of tibia, femur, humerus, or radius.

  • Open fractures where infection risk is high.

  • Bone lengthening or deformity correction procedures.

Material

  • Typically made from stainless steel, titanium, or carbon fiber composites.

  • Designed to withstand autoclave sterilization.
