FAQs

What is a 4.5, 5.0 & 7.3mm Proximal Femoral Locking Plate?

A 4.5, 5.0 & 7.3mm Proximal Femoral Locking Plate is an orthopedic fixation implant designed to help stabilize fractures involving the proximal femur. Its locking screw configuration provides secure fixation between the plate and bone.

What types of fractures can this plate be used for?

It may be used for selected proximal femoral fractures where plate fixation is clinically appropriate. The specific fracture pattern, bone quality, and fixation method should be assessed by a qualified orthopedic surgeon.

What screw sizes are compatible with the plate?

The plate is designed around 4.5mm, 5.0mm, and 7.3mm fixation options, depending on the designated holes and surgical technique. Compatibility should always be confirmed with the manufacturer's implant and instrumentation specifications.

What are the advantages of a locking plate design?

Locking plates allow screws to engage with the plate, creating a stable fixed angle construct. This can help maintain alignment and provide fixation in challenging fracture patterns or areas with reduced bone quality.

Can the plate be used for osteoporotic bone?

Locking fixation can be useful when treating fractures in patients with compromised bone quality. However, implant selection and fixation strategy should be determined by the surgeon based on the patient's individual anatomy and clinical condition.
